Cambridge Road Trip! 14th August.

Today I had a bit of a "day off" and went on a little road trip to Cambridge, I put down my pro camera and picked up my tiny little budget SLR & tacky lens.. (Nikon D3000 + 18-55mm Kit lens, nothing special!). It was a challenge to get used to using such a simple (and not too great) SLR, I found myself hitting invisible buttons and twisting non-existent dials! But I overcame my snobbishness and shot a few street photos around the city. 

Cambridge is a great city and I am quite tempted to return with the Mamiya to get some proper street shots!

I apologise for my lack of decent posts recently, I am currently working on my studio, which will hopefully be finished in September, I'm quite excited about being able to twiddle around with artificial lighting in a studio environment!

Horses and Sunsets. 24th July.

This evening there happened to be a beautiful sunset, I spied it through my window.. and then rushed off to a location which I knew would compliment a sun set. I decided to face away from the sunset and focus on a group of horses who were running around a field, they weren't the easiest thing to photograph as they were constantly moving and the amount of light was decreasing... but I finally captured this shot, which I was quite happy with.

I did have to capture a typical "picture postcard" sunset shot though, so here it is.

The land where you can see for miles. 30th June.

So, I'm back home for the weekend. Getting home to my quiet little town made me realise how different London life is! I could see the sky without having to look straight up past tall buildings, and I could look around and see for miles. So today I decided to go for a little walk and soak in the beauty of living on the verge of the countryside. My town contains a mix of industry and farmland, so you may stand in one spot and see a large brick factory and then turn around and view beautiful countryside.. it is a contrast which I find interesting and quite love! 

I am also enjoying being home and stepping back from my work on "The Park Study", so that I can think of where I need to take it when I start shooting again next week... a few new ideas and pieces of inspiration have filled my head so far... so watch this space!

Jubilee celebrations galore! 4th June.

Today has been long and busy... but hopfully will be very rewarding! I attended two events today, a Jubilee Celebration at Elton Hall, Cambridgeshire and a Street Party in Eye, Peterborough... both of which had great atmosphere and were wonderful events to shoot. Sadly the photos I am putting up today are not brilliant as I was shooting on film for the majority of the day and these are a few test shots I did in-between the film shoots. I am very excited to see how the roll of film turns out! The Church and the Bird. 2nd April.

I was out for a walk round my little town today, I took my camera with me and decided to photograph whatever interesting things came my way. This church, St.Mary's stands in the centre of the town and whilst walking past it I noticed that there was a bird flying round it, I don't really know why it interested me, but it did.. and I quite like the photograph of that moment!

Leopard Print Girl. 21st November.

I was in Ely today, so I did a little bit of Street Photography (which can be found here) and I saw this woman and I asked for her portrait, because I thought she had a really unique style! 

I also started a little bit of Christmas shopping today too, the thing is I always find it really hard to work out what to get people for Christmas... it'll be worth it when everyone opens their presents and I can see the joyful looks on their faces! 

The Foggy Day. 19th November.

Today was a very foggy day! So foggy that my driving test was cancelled, which was quite annoying as I had driven completely safely to the test centre, just to be told that I couldn't have my test, hopefully I'll be able to book it asap!

I went out in my town today to take some street photographs, as there are some interesting people in my town! I took this photograph and I did quite like it, although it isn't quite street photography... the foggyness of the street and the Christmas decoration make the photograph feel slightly festive... and I love feeling festive :D
