Ice Cream, Summer and Pretty Flowers. 16th August.

Whilst I was in the city of Peterborough today I realised the us Brits seem to have a love affair with ice cream cones in the summer. Wherever you look there is someone holding a wafer cone filled with soft vanilla ice cream, I have to say that I embrace the trend of ice cream in the summer! Even on days which aren't particularly hot or "summery" the ice cream vans come out in force and the punters flock towards their nearest ice cream distribution centre.

I also found these two rather vibrant flowers today in the gardens surrounding the Peterborough Cathedral, I decided to suddenly become a nature photographer and snapped a couple of typical stock-photography style shots.

Eye See. 28th May.

My eyes are the inspiration behind my photography, without them I wouldn't be able to see the many things which I choose to capture.

Bubbles. 4th April.

Water has been a problem for me today! I was planning to go out and shoot for my project on the English, but the weather destroyed any chance of me getting the photographs which I had planned as British people tend to run away from anything which hints at rain! I do have a number of shoots planned over this week and next week which shall hopefully not be impacted by the weather though, so I am a little bit excited about that!!

Exploding Flower. 29th January.

This photograph was inspired by the work of Nick Knight, I love his series of still life powder flower photographs (photos below). I decided to use the idea of powder making the impression of flowers, but I made it more literal in this photograph.

Raindrops. 24th January.

Today did not go as plan, I wanted to go out and shoot for my industrial landscapes documentary project, but the weather for the day meant it would be pretty challenging to take a photograph which would appear how I wanted it to appear. Instead of shooting I spent a day indoors planning for a documentary on the effects homelessness has on people, hopefully I have a great organisation on board who I can work alongside. I also booked a location for a fashion shoot I have coming up next week. Excited to see both of these projects unfold!

Pinecone. 9th January.

Wake up little pinecone
The rain has fallen and the air is fresh
And someday you will be a tree
The tallest tree in the land

Wake up and see for yourself
The soil is rich and the land grows under your feet
But most of all, my little pinecone
Expect great things from yourself

Wake up and see for yourself
See how the universe plays in the branches
While mountain glaciers melt in sun

Shake the snow from your beautiful head
Wake up from your peaceful nap and see
How this is your destiny

The Lightbulb. 7th January.

This is the result of a little bit of experimental Macro Photography I did today. I had an old car headlight bulb and thought that it would make a great photograph. I did not use and photographic flash lighting for this, but I did use my table lamp and used a video playing on my laptop as a background, it is quite hard to get the right balance of exposures through distancing the object from light sources, but I enjoy it and find the lighting is one of the best parts of photographing macro and still life pieces.

The little Bible. 30th October.

This little bible was in my house ontop of my piano.... I thought it would make an interesting photograph. I still have a macro lens at the moment too, so I used that for this photo... might have to do a few more things with it as it is an amazing little lens (Canon 60mm f2.8 USM). In other news I am super tired today as I had a busy morning at church doing kids work :) And I have been essay writing all afternoon! I am still wanting to be able to develop the roll of film in my SLR at the moment, it's 36 exposures and I'm on about 25! I do no want to waste a single shot though... maybe I'm being a bit too picky at the moment though!
