Birthday Candles and Bastille.

Just a leftover candle from yesterday's birthday cake.. I have suddenly re-fallen in love with tilt-shift photography, but as I don't have a tilt-shift lens I'm trying to make do with quirky angles and f1.8... I may do some freelensing with my old DSLR tomorrow...

Some of you may know I spent some time at Rankin at the end of last year, it was an amazing experience and now I can show you the outcome of one of the projects I assisted on, a Live acoustice performance of Pompeii by Bastille. It was great fun recording this video, the band were amazing to listen to and the set was simple but really cool. I haven't really got this song out of my head since the recording (November), so it is definitely one to watch.

The Brass Band Christmas Carols. 22nd December.

You know it's nearly Christmas when the Salvation Army come out into the high streets with their brass instruments and start playing Christmas Carols. It just really gives towns and cities across England that "Christmas Feeling"

Guitars, Nature Reserves and a new lens for my Mamiya. 6th October.

I went out with my Mamiya RZ67 today, I have a new lens for it, a lovely 50mm wide angle lens! I used to borrow a Mamiya with the 50mm lens, but I haven't been able to get to one for the past few months which has been very frustrating as I haven't been able to work on some projects including Our British Lives.

I knew I wanted to take photos with the Mamiya today, but I had no models/sitters who I could call on, so I just grabbed my old guitar and went to a local nature reserve. I've still got half a roll of film to shoot before I can get it developed, but I am quite excited to see the results (as per normal!), I have really missed shooting Medium Format!

The Organist. 19th September.

Today I spent time in a wonderful little church in Gresham, Norfolk, as it was the Memorial for my Grandma. It was a lovely day and I know that she would have loved it. As I walked into the church this man was tinkling away on the organ and I decided that it was such a lovely thing I had to whip my iPhone out and capture the moment.

Guitar Girl. 17th September.

I currently feel that my need to take portraits is not satisfied, so I took a little self portrait today to satisfy it for a tiny little bit of time! Tomorrow I shall try and find some time to hunt down some interesting people to photograph portraits of...

Jazz in the City. 26th July.

Today was another one of those beautiful days where you have to get outside and do something! I headed into Peterborough, my nearest city, and took some street shots. A jazz band happened to be playing in the main square of the city, the square was full of people with many young children dancing around the fountains... there was just a lovely atmosphere.

Motion of the Guitarist. 7th July.

So I'm back home for the weekend... away from the crazy hustle and bustle of London! I spent today with my boyfriend, he's a pretty great guitarist and whilst he was spending time jamming on an electric guitar I decided to capture the motions which a guitarists goes through to create sound.

Doris. 6th March.

I had another trip to Emmaus Cambridge today, I went in the evening this time though, so instead of interrupting people whilst they were working I could spend time with them doing things which they enjoy to do. I spent most of my evening with the band from Emmaus whilst they were practicing, it's a four piece band, 2xGuitar, Bass, Drums and Vocals, and from my evening I can say they were pretty good! The guy who heads it up is Doris, he's helped each of the band members with learning their instruments and successfully bought them all together as a tight band. I have recorded a couple of videos of them playing, so I'll upload them in the near future.

Street Harpist. 28th February 2012.

I was walking through Peterborough today and I saw this man on his harp, I do not think I have ever seen a busker playing a harp, he was quite interesting and I thought his character was something which deserved to be captured.

The Rainbow Guitar. 13th January.

"This ol' guitar
has been my best friend
through thick and thin

It has held all my thoughts
spoken them through melody
words whispered from my heart

And at times
this ol' guitar
has even held tears at bay

Stopped my world from falling apart
it even has kept
this ol' heart from breaking in two

Yes, this ol' guitar
has served these aging hands
of mine so well

This ol' guitar
it has created music
that screamed out to be heard

This ol' guitar
has been my best friend
through thick and thin.... "

Bagpipes. 25th November.

So today I have started forming ideas for a couple of new projects. One projects is where I am going to document the local business, I want to show typical British businesses and people who work in them through this documentary, it is quite open to me and I am just going to watch it unfold. The second project is a landscape piece where I am going to show how human constructions, such as pylons and wind turbines, are having to come acceptable as part of the landscape. Here's a piece of test work from this project:

The Ukulele. 5th of November.

I painted this Ukulele last year, I never got round to re-stringing it though. I have always wanted to learn ukulele, it is a really cool instrument with a great sound!

Today has been busy and the rest of my week is pretty busy-looking too! I have a couple more architecture shoots to complete, a hair shoot, and some 5x4 work. But it's photography, so it it fun!

The Balloon and Bassist! 4th November.

Hola, so today... I have a double day for you! Two photographs for the price of one day! I've had a bit of a crazy day, but out of it I have gained motivation to become a photographer who stands out, tries new things, and pushed boundaries! New projects on the way, so watch out!

Anyway... photos of the day:
