Wind turbines on the riverside. 28th March.

I have been taking photos today, but sadly I do not have anything to show you as I've been shooting on film... so I've uploaded an iPhone snapshot of a river which I drive past all the time (I didn't photograph this whilst driving though). I have been in the studio with a few other photographers and we were shooting a number of portraits with a few different cameras; we first shot with the Holga, a camera which I have a love hate relationship with depending on the quality of the Negatives, I then used the Bronica, a camera which I love using (although I prefer a Mamyia and it's 6x7 negative format), and then I did a shot on the 5x4 pinhole camera. Developing these tomorrow and hopefully scanning them too, so keep tuned to see the results!

Pinhole Tree. (5x4 Negative Scan). 15th December.

I am cheating today as I took this photograph yesterday, it is just a simple negative scan but I am printing it tomorrow! I shot this on a 5x4 pinhole camera, the camera I used has a really wide angle, it is great though and it makes the photographs really effective and interesting! I have been ill today (hence the lack of photograph-taking today) but I shall be better and taking photographs tomorrow!

5x4 Pinholes. 21st October.

Today I had a little go with 5x4 pinhole photographs! The first photograph is my shot and the second is a group photo which was exposed for 2minutes, so a little bit of motion blur! The negatives were tray developed, I was responsible for the chemical process of the negatives, they have a few marks and scratches on, but I shall try and improve my technique! I do really love pinhole work and with the 5x4 it is amazing, the angles are really wide and the depth of field is almost never ending as the aperture is f128. I look forward to experimenting further with Large Format pinhole cameras and seeing what I get!

The Cathedral through a Pinhole. 13th October.

You might be thinking "that photo looks a bit weird and fuzzy", but actually I am really proud of this photograph because not only did I take it, develop it, and print it... I made the camera that took it! I used a matchbox to make a pinhole camera and this was one of the first photographs I took with it. I was very excited when I had developed the film to see the negatives and even more excited to see how it came out on a print! 

Pinhole cameras are great fun, everyone can make one, everyone should have a go!!

McCurry and Pinhole Cameras.

I was in London yesterday and I had the opportunity to visit a Steve McCurry exhibition, I am very glad that I took the time to view the exhibition! I know his work quite well and have seen various pieces online and in magazines, but viewing them as large framed prints added a whole new dynamic to the photographs. I loved all of his photographs and I think it would be very hard to choose a favourite, but I'll post some that overly stood out to me:

In other news I have made a pinhole camera out of a matchbox! I am also going to try a few other ways of making a pinhole camera... so I'll be shooting some pinhole photographs and posting the results soon, so keep your eyes open!!!
