I got my old camera out today and a 50mm lens as I decided to do a little bit of free lensing. I've recently seen a load of tilt-shift photography and really do love it and it's abstract feel. Here's a few photos of my free lensing attempt, I may have to invest in a lensbaby as I would love to do more of this kind of work.
Just a leftover candle from yesterday's birthday cake.. I have suddenly re-fallen in love with tilt-shift photography, but as I don't have a tilt-shift lens I'm trying to make do with quirky angles and f1.8... I may do some freelensing with my old DSLR tomorrow...
Some of you may know I spent some time at Rankin at the end of last year, it was an amazing experience and now I can show you the outcome of one of the projects I assisted on, a Live acoustice performance of Pompeii by Bastille. It was great fun recording this video, the band were amazing to listen to and the set was simple but really cool. I haven't really got this song out of my head since the recording (November), so it is definitely one to watch.
Yes.. I'm an Instagrammer, I'm a fan of the cheesy fake-film filters and the quick ability to whip your phone out to snap and upload a photo. I went out on a little walk today to see how flooded the wash fields in whittlesey are and I debated taking my camera... but I decided to stick with my phone and take some low-quality quick snaps... and actually, I quite like them.
Once a year shop displays become oh so soppy and lovey-dovey as they try and sell presents which the recipient is going to love for one day and then realise that they don't need a heart-shaped teddy. I'm not anti-valentines day, in fact I love the fact we have dedicated a day each year to celebrate love.. but as with all major holidays and celebrations, I'm a little bit exasperated at the fact that everything becomes a little bit more expensive (eg.. eating out) and you are forced to think about the day months before it happens!
But, it's a nice day.. and if you're not anti-valentines I hope you had a happy love-filled day!
Took my bike out today and went on a bike ride into the city (Peterborough), we have a great cycle route which takes you away from the busy roads, but along a river and next to fields where livestock graze... it's quite nice.
I love pillboxes, I used to play in them when I was little.. they were amazing hiding places... they are also marks of our country's history and somehow take my thoughts back to the times they were in use.
Today was the day I attempted to take one of the most hideous photos of my life.... the dreaded passport photo. I don't think it is possible for anyone to look attractive in a passport photo, if only the above photograph could be accepted!
