Nature!

If I were asked what genre of photography the majority of my work would fit into I would say Landscape, because Landscape is a genre I really love and want to pursue.
I have decided to experiment a little bit with other genres and have decided to attempt a little bit of wildlife photography over the summer... It's quite hard because I don't really have any equipment suited to wildlife photography... but I like challenges!
I found loads of these cool little caterpillars (cinnabar moth caterpillars) on a wildlife photography walk I went on... this is probably one of my favourite wildlife photographs so far! You can find more wildlife photography here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150703671425046.705990.407058550045&type=1

Some people may say wildlife photography and landscape photography go hand in hand, they're probably looking at the obvious similarity... photographing the natural world. But they're quite different, landscape is the bigger picture whereas wildlife is picking out small details!

I shall probably have a few more goes at wildlife photography as it is quite enjoyable!

Sunsets!

The other night there was such a beautiful sunset about to happen... so I told my boyfriend that we would have to go out and take photos of it! I'm so glad we did! Hadn't really had any good landscape shoots this week up until then!
Drove about 5mins down the road and found a most wonderful photo opportunity...
I do love sunsets, and this one was just beautiful. I am now hoping that I will be a little bit more successful shooting landscapes around where I live!

I am hoping to go to the peak district again sometime over the summer to shoot... but that depends on many things! Shall definitely be going to Wales in a month and a bit... and I'll be going for a week.. so there may be some wonderful photos from that trip :D

Stay Tuned!

Dovedale and Sheffield :D

So today I went to the wonderful city of Sheffield and also climbed the extremely steep "Thorpe Cloud", a hill in Dovedale. I met a friend in Sheffield, went to his church (Hope City.. great church!) and then went for a meander around the city... Sheffield has a LOT of fountains... the coolest one has to be one at the railway station which is basically a massive wall which slowly gets higher and it has water cascading down it! So I snapped a quick photo of it... doesn't justify it's coolness though!
I also got my Holga out (which has some expired colour film loaded..fun!) and shot a few things... and also shot some stuff with my Lomo (which has some infared film in!)... so when I've finished shooting and dev/printed/scanned photos I'll show you all!

I then went on to Dovedale and walked by the beautiful little stream an then climbed Thorpe Cloud... a very steep hill! Was a lovely day though and the sky looked quite dynamic.. so I got a few shots up there! This being one of them:
I may get accused of overworking this photo, because it is quite dramatic and it isn't an exact representation of what I saw today... but I think Landscape photography should convey feeling and all the emotions that the photographer is feeling in the moment they are taking the photograph!

Found this little sheep drinking from the river when I got down from the hill... love this photograph, so full of character!
I really wanted to get some shots leading down the river, but sadly there were loads of tourists about and I found it really hard to work around that the produce the type of photographs I wanted!

There are a few photos I am going to work on from this trip.. so keep watching my facebook/twitter/website for them!

Also.. much thanks to the absolutely wonderful Stuart Towell for driving up there with me :D
