A Flash Bracelet.

I am slowly starting to use flash more and more... I used to swear by natural lighting, but now I love the drama of flash and the versatility of using it in different settings.

So, I found an old bracelet and photographed it.

Euros, travel & a little blog.

I'm off to Slovakia for a week this Monday... rather excited as it will (finally) be my first time out of the UK. I haven't stayed in the UK because I'm scared of travel, I've just never been able to find an opportunity to get out of the UK.. until now!

So, today I went to the Post Office and changed a bit of currency, and I spent a bit of time admiring the design of the notes. It is quite funny how with British Currency I don't even look at the notes, but as soon as I see another currency I find it interesting... it makes you realise how many little details you overlook in life.

Anyway, I will be taking loads of photos while I'm away, so one massive blog post will follow when I get back to the UK!

also, check out this blog post I wrote for Autographer:

Clocks & Shoot-through umbrellas!

I finally bought myself a shoot through umbrella to use alongside my trusty speedlight, I cannot believe it took me so long to buy one! I borrowed one from a friend a couple of weeks ago and have seen them used with handheld lights many times.. but I never thought of actually buying one (despite their cheap price!). So I am going to use flash with a load more of my photos now and I'll be experimenting quite a bit over the next week or so!

Cupcake Freelensing. 14th May.

I am still addicted to the slightly dodgy technique of freelensing - a technique where you take the lens of a camera to create a tilt-shift effect, this is dodgy because it can get dust on your sensor (I just use my old basic DSLR). I love the effects that you can get with freelensing and my aim is to get a lensbaby composer so that I can create some great photos/videos with the tilt-shift/freelensing style.

Daisies & Sheet Music.

So it's spring and the daisies have sprung, so I found a big patch of daisies and did a little bit of freelensing... resulting in this rather lovely picture!

I am also practicing piano a lot more than I used to, because I have decided to have a go at piano grades... so now I have a whole load of sheet music books laying around!
